The Super Falcons of Nigeria have successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympics, marking their return to the event after a 16-year absence. Under the guidance of Coach Randy Waldrum, the team secured the qualification on Tuesday by holding Bayana Bayana of South Africa to a goalless draw, winning 1-0 on aggregate.

In the second leg of the fixture, played on Tuesday evening in Pretoria, the Falcons demonstrated their resilience by fending off all attempts by the South African team to score a goal. Despite their opponents' spirited efforts, the Falcons successfully resisted all goalscoring opportunities through their resolute defense.

The Falcons' qualification for the 2024 Olympics is a historic accomplishment for the team, as it marks their first appearance in the competition since 2008. The team's victory was secured after they won 1-0 in the first leg of the fixture, played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday. Here, Rasheedat Ajibade's first-half penalty ensured that the Falcons took an important advantage in the fixture.

Although Uchenna Kanu came close to breaking the deadlock in Pretoria, her effort was deflected for a corner by a South African defender. However, Chiamaka Nnadozie's confident performance in goal for the Falcons ensured that they kept a clean sheet throughout the game. The Falcons have only played at the Olympics three times in their history, in 2000, 2004, and 2008. They lost in the third round of qualifiers in 2016 (Rio, Brazil) and 2020 (Tokyo, Japan) to Equatorial Guinea and Ivory Coast, respectively. However, their recent qualification for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France is an excellent opportunity for the team to showcase their talents on the international stage, and they will undoubtedly be aiming to achieve great success in the competition.

The 2024 Olympics is scheduled to be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024, and the Falcons will be looking to make a significant impact at the event.
