Breaking News: Kidnappers Demand N1 Billion Ransom for Former Reps Member and Ex-Delta Commissioner Mrakpor

A reliable informant, who chose to remain anonymous when speaking to CIRCLESONTV, has disclosed that a connection has been established between the family of the former commissioner who was kidnapped and the perpetrators. The informant, involved in efforts to secure her release, revealed that the abductors are requesting a ransom of N1 billion for her safe return.

Former Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education Joan Mrakpor has been abducted, and her captors are demanding a ransom of N1 billion for her release, as per information obtained by CIRCLESONTV.

The informant stated, "Yes, the kidnappers have made contact with Mrakpor's family and are demanding a ransom of N1 billion for her release. However, the family has expressed their inability to meet this demand. Negotiations are ongoing, but progress has been slow. Once an agreement is reached, her release is anticipated."

Contrary to recent rumors of Mrakpor's release on Thursday, a family source vehemently denied these claims, dismissing them as baseless.

Regarding the alleged release of Mrakpor and the reported N1 billion ransom, SP Bright Edafe, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, responded by stating that the police are uninformed about such developments.

"There have been numerous rumors surrounding the incident. Initially, there was a rumor about her demise, and now, there are claims of her release. However, we do not possess any information on these matters, including the alleged N1 billion ransom," he remarked.

Former House of Assembly and House of Representatives member Joan Mrakpor was abducted on July 30, 2024, by armed individuals at 'King Jesus and I' church off DBS Road at 4 pm and Saba around 4 pm.

According to reports, the assailants ambushed Ms. Mrakpor, firing indiscriminately to disperse the crowd before fleeing with her via a waiting speedboat at the River Niger. This incident led to the fatalities of two police orderlies and a POS operator, who was reportedly struck by a stray bullet. Ms. Mrakpor had previously resigned from her position to facilitate her younger brother's candidacy for chairman of the Aniocha South Local Government Council. Her resignation was influenced by protests against her, stemming from her brother's candidacy while she held a state cabinet position.
