President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commenced a three-day official visit to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, in response to an invitation extended by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
President Tinubu, accompanied by his key aides, arrived at Saint Isabel Airport, Malabo, at 02:07 pm local time on Wednesday aboard a Gulfstream aircraft.
The Equatorial Guinea's Prime Minister, Mrs. Manuela Roka Botey, and other senior government officials warmly welcomed President Tinubu upon his arrival.
This visit signifies President Tinubu's inaugural official trip to the Central African country and his 22nd foreign undertaking since taking office 15 months earlier. The agenda during his stay will include a meeting with President Mbasogo at the Presidential Villa to engage in bilateral discussions, with an emphasis on enhancing collaboration in vital sectors such as oil and gas, as well as security.
Moreover, several agreements aimed at strengthening relations between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea are set to be signed during the visit. This visit to Malabo aligns with President Tinubu's broader diplomatic outreach across Africa and globally.
Notably, he has embarked on a series of international trips visiting seven African countries and multiple global destinations, including Paris, London, New York, and Riyadh since assuming office.
Accompanying the President on this diplomatic mission are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and other cabinet members who will partake in the agreement signings and explore opportunities to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations.
