ABOUT FUNAAB:
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, also known as FUNAAB, is a federal government-owned institution of higher learning in Nigeria. It was established on January 1, 1988, following the demerger of four universities of technology that had been merged in 1984. This led to the creation of the first two universities of agriculture in Abeokuta and Makurdi.
Before the establishment of FUNAAB, the Federal Government had set up the Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta (FUTAB), in 1983. Subsequently, in 1984, it was merged with the University of Lagos and renamed the College of Science and Technology, Abeokuta (COSTAB), before being demerged in January 1988.
Initially, the university operated from the former campus of Abeokuta Grammar School, Isale-Igbein, near the city center. Its relocation to the permanent site along Alabata Road was completed in 1997.
