Vivian Wilson, a 20-year-old estranged transgender daughter of prominent technology entrepreneur Elon Musk, has publicly announced her intention to relocate from the United States in light of Donald Trump’s recent election victory.
Wilson conveyed her decision on the social media platform Threads, articulating her discomfort with the current political environment under Trump’s administration, as reported by the UK’s Daily Mail.
“I do not envision my future in the United States. I have contemplated this for some time, but recent events have solidified my resolve. Even if his tenure lasts only four years and even if anti-trans regulations do not manifest, the constituents who supported this administration will remain for the foreseeable future,” she stated.
Born Xavier Musk in 2004, Wilson legally changed her name and gender in April 2022, choosing to adopt her mother’s maiden name, Wilson, to sever ties with her father.
In court filings, she expressed, “I no longer reside with or wish to be associated with my biological father in any capacity.”
Musk, who has been a vocal supporter of Trump and has fathered twelve children across three relationships, has publicly acknowledged his strained relationship with Vivian.
He has referred to her as a “communist” who regards wealth as inherently detrimental and expressed that he felt misled into permitting her use of puberty blockers.
“I was essentially deceived into signing documents for Xavier. My understanding of the situation was limited at the time as it coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, during which I was informed that Xavier might be at risk of suicide,” he remarked.
Musk has previously characterized puberty blockers as “sterilization drugs” and described gender dysphoria as “incredibly harmful,” arguing that advocates for such measures “should be held accountable.” He stated, “I lost my son… They refer to it as ‘deadnaming’ because your son is no longer alive, a casualty of the woke ideology.”
In response to Musk's remarks, Vivian asserted that her father had minimal involvement in her upbringing and often criticized her expressions of femininity and queerness.
“He lacks awareness of my experiences as a child because he was not present in my life.
I faced persistent harassment due to my femininity and queerness. I believe this reflects significantly on his perception of queer people and children more broadly,” she articulated.
