Kanu Nwankwo, the former Super Eagles forward, has officially endorsed Ademola Lookman for the distinction of being named Africa’s best player.
The 2024 Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Awards are scheduled to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday, December 16.
Ademola Lookman is among the twelve candidates vying for this esteemed award, which includes his Super Eagles teammate, William Troost-Ekong.
The winger has garnered considerable recognition for his outstanding performance over the past year, both for his club and the national team.
At 27 years of age, Lookman was the sole African player nominated for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, where he achieved a commendable 14th-place finish.
Kanu stated during an interview with Brila FM, “Lookman is a very skilled player, demonstrating humility and a strong work ethic. Based on his performance metrics, I firmly believe he is a strong contender for this award.
I am not aware of any African player who has surpassed his achievements this year. His ranking in the Ballon d'Or was notably impressive (14th), and he has excelled for both his club and country.”
