₦80.2 Billion Fraud: Yahaya Bello Was Arrested; He Did Not Submit Himself — EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in connection with alleged multi-billion naira fraud.

Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the former governor was apprehended at approximately 12:54 PM on Tuesday 26th November, 2024 and is currently detained at the EFCC office in Abuja.

According to Mr. Oyewale, Yahaya Bello, who had previously been declared wanted by the commission, did not voluntarily surrender himself but was arrested by agency operatives in Abuja.

He stated, "We arrested Mr. Yahaya Bello at 12:54 PM; he did not present himself to the commission, and three of his legal representatives are currently with him."

Following his arrest, Mr. Bello is undergoing an interrogation session with the commission's investigators. He remains in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned in court in due course.
